Low Price 5 a side Comes To Welwyn Garden City
Lucky 5 a side players in Welwyn Garden City can look forward to more choice and low, low prices as a new Wednesday League at the Gosling Sports Park is planned for early 2012.
Leisure Leagues, who already run a string of leagues in Welwyn, are delighted to announce that they are starting their first 5 a side league in the town.
And as League Manager Greg Allen explained the emphasis is on making it accessible for all.
“At Leisure Leagues,” said Greg “we try our best to make our community football leagues accessible to everyone in that community and that is exactly why we are keeping the price at this league down to just £18 for a 40 minute match, which is incredible value really.”
The new Wednesday night 5 a side league came about after another company – Pitch Invasion - left their booking and Greg continued:
“We know they were charging £33 for their 40 minutes and we hope teams will agree that ours is much, much better value.”
Leisure Leagues have been running leagues at Gosling Sports Park for 18 months and Greg admitted that this relationship had proved to be fruitful in this case. “The Centre approached us directly to take this booking on and help the teams,” he said. “And that is a prime example of the type of rapport we try and get going – I would to publicly thank them for their help in this.”
Even though the prices are 45% lower than the previous league, teams in the league can look forward to all the usual Leisure Leagues trappings including free kit and free entry, trophies for the top two, a wooden spoon for the bottom team and free entry for the winners and runners up in the league to the National 6 a side football championships, where they will compete for a holiday.

5 a side Comes Back To Thatcham
5 a side football is coming back to Thatcham after Leisure Leagues announced it will be starting a new league in 2012.
The Thursday night league will kick off on the 12th January at the Henwick Worthy Sports Ground and marks a return to the venue by the firm, as league manager Greg Allen explained: “We used to run a popular league at the venue on a Sunday,” he said. “And we are absolutely thrilled to be bringing it back in the midweek."
“We run a league in Reading on a Sunday and the referee for that one has agreed to help us in Thatcham too so it should be fantastic. The previous league was extremely well received and was very hard fought. We hope the new one will see that standard maintained."
Greg was also quick to thank the Henwick Worthy Centre for their help in bringing the league back: “They have been first class,” he said. “And we look forward to working with them in the coming months and years.”
There is free entry and free kit available for all teams who enter the league and the top two will receive free entry into the National 6 a side football championships and get the chance to compete for a holiday.
There are also bespoke trophies and champagne for the winners, while the runners up will also receive hand made trophies.
