Rules and Regulations
1a) Each game is kicked off from the centre circle, with
this being done at the start of the game, as well as the start of the second
1b) Games last either 28 or 36 minutes, making each half last 14 or 18 minutes.
1c) Each team has a maximum squad of 8 players.
Loan Player Rule
2a) A team is allowed a “Loan Player” if there team has
below the minimum scheduled outfield players.
2b) Our Match Officials have the power to refuse or accept “loan” players if, in his opinion, the outcome of the match would be considerably influenced.
2c) If a “Loan” player is disciplined during the game
then the team captain is responsible for any fine incurred.
2d) Loan players can only be used to fulfill the basic squad of five. Teams may not use Loan players as substitutes.
2e) If a team uses a guest player, that team is still liable to pay their full match fee.
Multi Player Squads
2f) Teams do not have to register individual players to a squad. We understand that the same players won’t necessarily be available every week, so with this rule teams can bring a different squad of 8 each week if they wish – provided those players do not already play for another team in the league.
3a) The penalty taker is allowed a maximum of two steps before striking the ball.
3b) The Goalkeeper must remain on his line and not move until the ball is struck.
3c) The team must clarify to the referee who is taking the penalty kick. Teams will be penalised and the penalty disallowed if the referee feels the goalkeeper was placed at a disadvantage by the opposing teams not making it clear who was taking the penalty kick.
3d) Where a penalty spot is not visible, the penalty kick shall be taken 1 yard back from the edge of the area.
4a) After a goal is scored, the keeper must return the
ball to the center of the pitch to re start the game.
4b) The keeper must always stay in his area, if he does leave his team is penalised with an award of a penalty for the opposition.
4c) In certain circumstances it can be forseen that the keepers momentum, or conditions of the floor hall can deem that the keeper had left the area through no fault of his own. This would be solely the decision of the match official.
4d) If a defensive side has a free-kick near to the
goalkeepers area, then the match official may wish to continue play with an
underarm roll-out by the goalkeeper.
4e) The keeper must always distribute the ball under arm, and below shoulder height. If the ball is distributed overarm, or kicked out then it will result in the opposition being awarded and indirect freekick two yards outside of the area.
4f) If a team makes a change of goalkeeper during the match then the match official must be told before the change is made.
4g) If an attacker kicks the ball near the area the action of the kick must have started and finished outside the area however the momentum of the kick is allowed to travel in the area.
4h) Attacking players may also enter the opposing area through momentum only. The match official shall be the sole judge of momentum and the attacker should make every reasonable effort not to enter the box.
4i) No player shall be penalised if through no fault of their own, they enter the area when they have made a reasonable attempt not to enter the area. This particularly applies to attacking players who may push defending players into the area.
4j) The goalkeeper may not kick the ball under any circumstances except in the course of making a save. If the goalkeeper does kick the ball, an indirect free kick will be given, two yards outside the area.
4k) Players who run through the area and in doing so gain an advantage, will be penalised.
5a) Unlike other leagues the ball can be passed back to
the keeper but he MUST always pick it up and distribute it under arm below
shoulder height. Any infringement on this will result in an in direct free kick
to the opponents.
6a) Payers are not allowed to wear jeans, shoes, hats,
6b) Players must wear a shirt at all times.
6c) Teams must either wear the same kit or same colour
top, failure to do so will result in teams wearing bibs.
7a) Three substitutes per team are allowed and they must stand behind their goal
(defensive) which is occupied by their goalkeeper.
7b) Substitutes can only enter play when their team is in an attacking position in the oppositions half.
7c) Substitutes are roll on roll off and can be used as many times as you want.
7d) Substitutes are not allowed onto the pitch until the other player has left the field.
Head Height Rule
8a) The ball cannot go above head-height.
8b) The match official will decide if the ball has gone above head height.
8c) If the ball does go above head height the opposing team is awarded an indirect free kick from where the ball was played.
8d) If the ball goes above head height from the keeper saving ball, the post/crossbar, or anything other than the outfield players then you play on.
9a) Every free kick is indirect.
9b) Opposing players need to be two yards away from the ball before the taking of a free kick.
11a)The match official has the sole decision on whether a tackle is deemed dangerous or not.
11b) Teams must play in kits or same coloured tops, failure to do so will result in teams being placed in bibs.
11cTeams who arrive late to a fixture run the risk of forfeiting the game.
11d) The signing of the entry form indemnifies 5aside.co.uk from any responsibility for personal injury or lost property whilst participating in our organised leagues. Teams are responsible for arranging their own personal insurance cover at centres where this is not automatically applicable.
11e) If teams wish to cancel a game for whatever reason then they automatically lose 5-0 (5aside.co.uk allows a Multi Player Squad System) and their opponents will play a friendly arranged by 5aside.co.uk.
11f) If there are one or more gaps in the league then teams will have a friendly game arranged called a “Points Match”. You automatically win this game 5-0 but still have to come down to the league, pay and play.
11g) If a team fails to turn up for a scheduled fixture
without giving 5aside.co.uk 7 days’ notice then they lose the fixture 5-0 and
will be charged the full match fee for the missed game. Teams who wish to
withdraw from the league need to give two weeks’ notice of their intent to
withdraw from the league and are required to pay for and play two full matches
prior to withdrawal; failure to adhere to this will result in the Team Captain being
charged their full two weeks match fees for both missed fixtures.
11h) If a team fails to attend two consecutive matches and fails to inform 5aside.co.uk Head Office of their intention to withdraw from the league then they will be liable for both missed match fees and will also be charged their two weeks withdrawal notice on top of these match fees.
11i) – Please note that teams are automatically entered into a new league season unless they provide us with the required two weeks withdrawal notice prior to the end of the season. If a team wishes to withdraw from the league and only notifies us of this at the beginning of the new season then they will be required to play the first two matches of the new season before being able to withdraw, failure to adhere to this will result in the team being charged their match fees for these two fixtures.
12a) If a player receives a red card during the game then they must leave the field of play immediately.
13a) If a player is issued a yellow card during the game they automatically receive a two minutes in the sin bin, and must leave the field of play behind their goal.

14a) our match officials are instructed to be very strict
on time wasting.
14b) If a player is deemed to be time wasting he/she could be issued a yellow card and sin binned..
Penalties and Free Kicks
15a) Free Kicks are given for the following -
1. Intentional handball
2. The ball going over head-height
3. Time wasting
4.Attacking play deliberately going in the opposition area.
6. A direct pass back to the keeper after receiving the ball from the keeper. An indirect free kick two yards outside the area is awarded.
7.No sliding by any outfield player.
8. Kicking the ball away.
9. A foul or any type of obstruction
15b)Penalties are given when -,
1.The keeper leaves the area.
2. A defender enter his own area in order to gain an advantage.
Health and Safety
18a) All participants understand that these events are contact sports and contain risk to the person participating for which the organiser cannot be held responsible.
18b) All participants agree that we have no control over the safety of the premises we hire, or persons admitted to the venues we hire and it is the sole responsibility of the team captain to ensure their team's players do not start any game unless they are satisfied that the surface and other conditions are satisfactory and safe for the activity in question having due regard for the participants. We cannot be held responsible for any defects to the venue which may cause injury and all team captains understand this when participating.
18c) Team captains must inspect the pitch and playing conditions and must report any issues prior to their game commencing to the match official on duty otherwise it will be deemed that the team captain and their players have accepted any risks and any ensuing liability for any subsequent injury.
19a) Please note that the Team Captain is responsible for the conduct of all players and all spectators connected with the team. Failure to control the conduct of players or spectators will result in the Team Captain being responsible for any resulting fines being paid in full
ANY PLAYERS THAT PLAY IN 5aside.co.uk LEAGUES PARTICIPATE AT THEIR OWN RISK AND IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH PLAYER TO ARRANGE EITHER THEIR OWN INSURANCE COVER OR A TEAM’S INSURANCE COVER THAT WILL COVER THEM FOR INJURY. 5aside.co.uk HOLD PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE ONLY AND CONCLUDE, TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY INJURY SUSTAINED WHILST PLAYING IN THEIR LEAGUES.
